Hello I’m Johann. I created these cinematic AI visuals that aimed to evoke nostalgia and emotion. I chased film-like imperfection and surrealist cinematic tones. Really just tried translating the heart of each track into captivating visuals that engaged viewers on a level of my own or the teams choosing. Sometimes it’s visceral, other times it’s melancholic.

Creative Focus:

Each project began with reference images and two to three core concepts. I broke down lyrics into detailed profiles that translated composition, color, and mood. Guided by intuition and taste, I leaned toward art styles that felt fresh and trend-setting. Using AI as a creative tool, I meta-prompted, generated, and refined each visual until it naturally mirrored the energy and emotion of the music while sticking with the vision presented.

Approach:

Grateful to have embraced AI and innovative tech since early days, have always been a little bit of a contrarian too so there is an edge of that. Since I’ve implemented it into my production pipeline, I’ve treated it as extension of traditional ways of making videos, and I am using digital control to blow ideas up into story-like sequences and accelerate the-making-of.

Editing & Tools:

Projects flow through DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or Premiere Pro, depending on needs really. Years spent on the road and in the studio shooting guerilla-photo/video and running social media accounts, which helped inform my approach to AI visuals, and I naturally gravitate towards clean, cinematic shots, meaning, and editing that matches the emotion of each track.
